When you sew a run of hundreds or thousands of garments, an eyelet or cord end that is "more or less right" is not good enough. You need exact measurements: inner hole, shank height, flange diameter, cord end length and profile. That is exactly why Polkom – a Sofia-based producer and supplier of accessories for fashion, furniture, footwear and bags with more than 30 years of experience – has relaunched polkom.com and added new technical catalogues. The new site is faster, more modern and organised so that a pattern maker, a production technologist or a workshop owner can find what they need in minutes rather than after several emails.
In this article we look at what the new catalogue pages for eyelets, metal cord ends and snap buttons contain, how to use them when planning a collection, and why downloadable PDF technical sheets save time for everyone in the production chain.
What the new technical catalogues are
Until now, information about metal accessories was often gathered in pieces: a photo from an old catalogue, a size from a previous quote, a sample in a drawer on the factory floor. On the new polkom.com every product group has its own page that works as a reference guide. There you will find:
- a breakdown by series or system, so you can see straight away which type suits your material;
- tables with the dimensions of every item;
- profile drawings wherever the shape matters;
- technical sheets in PDF to download;
- practical advice on choosing and fitting, including the most common mistakes and how to avoid them.
The pages are available in Bulgarian and many other languages, which makes it easier to work with partners and customers outside Bulgaria.
Eyelets: 7 series and 61 sizes in one place
An eyelet looks like a simple detail, but choosing one depends on three measurements: the inner hole, the shank height and the outer flange diameter. Get the height wrong and the shank will not roll over fully or will split during setting. On the new page Polkom has brought together seven series – standard, flat, mesh ventilation, oval, shaped, logo and large eyelets for tarpaulins and curtains – with 61 sizes in total.
The most useful part for everyday work is the eyelet size table: for each series it lists the suitable materials and the size range, and below it you will find the detailed measurements of every item. This way, already at the design stage, you can check whether the eyelet will pass through all the layers of fabric, leather or felt at the fitting point.
When this table comes in handy
- when choosing between a round and an oval eyelet for a cord or a flat tape;
- on thick, multi-layer areas where a long shank is needed;
- on technical textiles and tarpaulins, where the load is high;
- when you want an eyelet with an embossed logo on the flange.
Metal cord ends: 64 models in 9 colours
A cord end is small, but the customer touches it every time they put on a hoodie, a jacket or joggers. That is why it carries the brand's style just as much as the label does. The catalogue of 64 metal cord end models is organised by shape: cone, shaped round, flat for tapes, designer, geometric, tubes and spheres.
Each model has its own code, dimensions, approximate opening and profile drawing. There are nine colours – from glossy gold, silver and rose gold to matt antique finishes. The item code combines the model code and the colour code, so there is no room for confusion in an order. The page also offers a combined size table in PDF, handy for printing and attaching to the garment's tech pack.
Snap buttons: 5 systems and 34 models
With snap buttons the most common mistake is a system that does not match the fabric. Light knits and baby clothes need a fastener that does not strain the fabric, while denim jackets and coats require a sturdier system. The new page sets out the five snap button systems – prong, 54 system, 61 system, sew-on and special – with 34 models in total.
For every system the page describes the suitable fabrics, the sizes, the construction and the fitting method. There is also a separate table of fitting problems – from prongs that do not grip the fabric to a cap that spins – with the likely cause and the fix. For each system you can download a technical sheet in PDF.
PDF technical sheets: why they matter in production
PDF sheets are not just a brochure. They solve a concrete problem: information about an accessory has to travel from the designer to the technologist, to the factory floor and to quality control without getting distorted on the way.
- The garment's tech pack. Attach the sheet to the specification and everyone on the team works with the same dimensions.
- Machine set-up. The press operator sees the construction of the item and picks the right die.
- Communication with the client. If you manufacture for another brand, you can send them the sheet for approval before the production run.
- Archive. When you reorder a year later, you do not have to hunt for the old sample or the old email.
Branding: accessories with your logo
Besides its standard models, Polkom makes accessories with the customer's logo, colour and design. The Polkom branding page describes the marking techniques – laser engraving, embossed logo, casting a custom model, weaving, printing and Pantone colour matching – as well as the steps from sending your logo to the production order. Before the run a sample is made, which you check with your own fabric and design.
This also matters for small brands and workshops that want to look professional: a logo on the eyelet, the snap button or the cord end is seen every time the garment is worn, not only on the neck label.
How to use the catalogues when planning a collection
Here is a practical workflow that saves at least one unnecessary round of samples:
- Define the material and its total thickness at the fitting point.
- Choose a series or system using the tables on the relevant page.
- Write the code and size into the tech pack and attach the PDF sheet.
- Ask for a sample and do a test fitting on your own fabric.
- Once approved, the sample becomes the reference for the whole order.
If you are not sure which eyelet or snap to choose, the Polkom team can suggest a suitable item based on a description of the product or a sample of the material.
A faster, more modern website
The new polkom.com loads quickly on mobile too, which matters when you check a size right on the factory floor or at a client's. The galleries show examples of the production, and the full collection is unlocked with free registration. Search, navigation and the technical pages are built so that you reach the item you need in as few clicks as possible.
At Textiles.bg you will find many of these types of accessories in convenient quantities for workshops and tailors, while for series production and logo accessories the technical catalogues on polkom.com are the best starting point.

A well-cut suit rarely needs much decoration – but a precisely made detail on the lapel can say everything about the brand. Custom metal pins are exactly that kind of accessory: they underline the brand identity, give a luxurious finish and turn a men's or women's suit into a recognisable premium product.
The pins are made entirely to the customer's design, from high-quality metals, using a modern technological process and precise electroplating.
Materials and finishes
The base is a high-quality metal alloy, coated with one of the following electroplated finishes:
- Gold and Light Gold
- Rose Gold
- Nickel and Black Nickel
- Gun Metal
- Black Oxide
The finishes provide durability, a long life, a luxurious look and, as you choose, a shine or a matte effect. The pins can also be decorated with coloured enamel, which allows logos, lettering or symbols to be reproduced precisely.
A shape of your choice
- round, square, oval or rectangular
- with a cut-out logo
- following the outline of handwritten text
- three-dimensional designs
- completely unique designer shapes
This way your logo can look exactly as you imagined it – stylish, crisp and premium.
Secure and gentle fastening
All models have a strong pin fastening, which allows them to be fitted safely on men's and women's suits, jackets, coats, corporate uniforms and other premium clothing. The pin sits firmly without damaging the fabric.
Who they are suitable for
- fashion brands looking for a recognisable detail
- makers of luxury men's and women's suits
- corporate clothing
- boutique collections
- special events and souvenirs
- premium accessories
Safety and quality
- compliance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100
- European production standards
- safe for skin contact
- quality control at every step
The advantages at a glance
- premium electroplated finishes
- no limits on design
- option of coloured enamel
